Interparfums SA is set to acquire French Maison Rochas (fragrance and fashion) from Procter & Gamble. The transaction – anticipated to close within first-half 2015 – will incorporate all brand names and registered trademarks for Rochas (like ‘Femme’, ‘Madame’, and ‘Eau de Rochas’).
The acquisition will be payable in cash on the closing date for US$108 million and will be financed entirely through a medium-term loan.
For the first time, this acquisition will integrate both fragrances and fashion. It will open up new opportunities in terms of creativity as well as aesthetic design and marketing choices. It will also allow us to apply a global approach to managing a fragrance brand boasting very high name recognition and without time restraints. Finally, this acquisition has generated enormous enthusiasm internally and high motivation by all to re-establish Rochas’ position, even more preeminent in the universe of luxury.
Philippe Benacin, Interparfums Chairman and CEO
The Rochas deal represents Interparfums’ first foray into fashion. The company owns Lanvin Perfumes and is the worldwide fragrance licensee for Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels, S.T. Dupont, Balmain, Repetto, Montblanc, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, and Paul Smith.
In 2015 Interparfums generated sales of nearly €300 million, with an operating margin of 10.6%. Its products are sold in nearly 100 countries – export sales account for almost 90% of its revenue.
Come into the beautiful world of Rochas.
