Ferrari officially teases its Purosangue SUV

“You’ve heard the rumors, and we’re delighted to confirm that some of them are true”, said the Prancing Horse of Maranello on social media. This caption is joined by the very first design preview of the Purosangue, which is the Italian automaker’s very first utility vehicle and five-door vehicle.

‘Il commendatore’ Enzo Ferrari may be rolling in his grave as we speak, but on the other hand, it’s all in vain. Considering how many examples of the Urus are sold each year by the Raging Bull of Sant’Agata Bolognese, it’s the perfect moment for the Prancing Horse of Maranello to launch a great-handling sport utility vehicle.

With most high-end marques producing a high-performance SUV, many enthusiasts have hoped that Ferrari wouldn’t cave with a model of its own. Well, it’s coming and the Italian supercar builder has released an official first look at the vehicle, which the company is calling a ‘genuine game changer’ and a ‘car whose bloodline can be traced back through our 75-year history of innovation, evolution and uncompromising performance’.

But no word has been said on the engine that will power Ferrari’s first SUV. While it’s unlikely to be a V12, it could be a V8 or perhaps a similar V6 Hybrid from the 296 GTB. Regardless, power is likely to be on par with the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, and undoubtedly more than models like the Mercedes-AMG G63. Only time will tell what exactly that means but one thing’s for sure. It’s going to be very, very fast. Ferrari plans to reveal its first-ever SUV later this year.

Stay tuned to YakymourMen for official information. For now, take a look at the teaser above. Come into the beautiful world of Ferrari.

Bentley Stockholm inaugurates its brand new showroom in the Swedish capital

Bentley Stockholm, the latest brand new Bentley retail facility, officially opened its new premises in the capital of Sweden. The launch event featured some of the most-exclusive Bentley models to date.

Located just off the E20 and the E4, the new showroom offers an easy access to the larger showroom facilities with 900 sqm of space, accommodating a new and pre-owned vehicles area with the latest Bentley Corporate Identity. A commissioning area is on hand to help visitors build their own unique Bentley vehicle.

For those who are inclined to take their customised Bentley even further, this area is also the place to explore the world of Mulliner, Bentley Motors customisation department, where the most unique and creative ideas are brought to life.

For this occasion, guests welcomed a special star amongst them, with the national debut of the Flying Spur Hybrid in Azure Purple and its Damson interior (see photos). This new model line-up proves that hybridisation does not compromise luxury performance.

The Flying Spur Hybrid uses a highly innovative third powertrain to deliver an unperceivable blend between the internal combustion engine and electric motor to offer refined serenity regardless of the driving mode or style. The exterior subtle visual differences include a ‘Hybrid’ front fender badge, quad oval tailpipes and a covered universal charging point on the left hand rear fender.

Joined by the first true luxury plug-in hybrid SUV, the Bentayga Hybrid in Viridian featuring Mulliner’s Black Specification, which includes a 22” Ten Spoke Directional Wheel – painted in black, Black specification, and sports pedals amongst other options. To round it up, the personalised GT Mulliner in Sequin Blue with a Linen interior and a striking Grand Black Veneer fascia handcrafted by Mulliner made an appearance.

With the Beyond100 strategy, Bentley is focusing on redefining the benchmark as a leader in sustainable luxury mobility. The Bacalar Car Zero in Scarab green paint with a retrimmed cabin displays the  sustainable craftsmanship. The materials include paint containing ash from rice husks, which provides a sustainable way of delivering a rich metallic finish, natural British wool and 5,000-year-old Riverwood sourced from the ancient Fenlands of East Anglia.

Only 12 units were produced and each one of them is a unique masterpiece. Bentley is accelerating its Beyond100 strategy and committed with a sustainable investment of £2.5 billion to transform the entire production portfolio and Crewe into a world – leading ‘Dream Factory’. Innovative steps to run the first full EV model down the assembly line by 2025, whist becoming carbon neutral, and having a zero impact production by 2030.

Exciting New LC ‘Hokkaido Edition’ Brings Grand Touring Fun

Lexus comes with a new version of the LC Coupé and LC Convertible, namely the Hokkaido Edition. This limited edition has specific details for the exterior and interior, and according to Lexus it is the ideal combination between luxury and dynamic driving behaviour.

The Hokkaido Edition takes its name from the volcanic island of Hokkaido in northern Japan, where Lexus also has a test track. It was on this island where the famed Lexus LFA was tested at the Lexus Shibetsu Proving Ground. The island is full of helmsman roads on which the Hokkaido Edition is tuned.

Not only the nature is beautiful, thanks to the many height differences and bends the roads are fantastic. Despite its name, this Lexus is primarily intended as a relaxed and luxurious Gran Tourer. The new variant is available on a limited basis in both coupé form and convertible. The former also comes with a hybrid powertrain.

The volcano theme extends beyond just the name. This is reflected in both the interior and the exterior. The combination of sportiness as well as luxury and comfort is reflected in the colors chosen for the interior. The seats and dashboard are upholstered in black leather, as are the steering wheel and gear knob.

The LC Hokkaido Edition is especially recognizable by the interior, where dark red upholstery on the center armrest and the armrest for the driver immediately catches the eye. Part of the dashboard on the driver’s side is also finished in that color, while the co-driver only looks out on black leather. Lexus thus creates two zones in the interior, as it were. The seats are upholstered in black leather, but the outside of the ‘cheeks’ are also dark red.

Furthermore, the Hokkaido Edition has a unique molding inside and the analog clock next to the infotainment screen is framed with a red border. A numbered plaque in front of the gear selector of the automatic transmission emphasizes once again that you are on the road with a unique variant.

The Hokkaido Edition is available in four colors: Flare Red, Graphite Black, Sonic Platinum and F White. The jet black grille and rear light housing provide additional contrast, further emphasizing the car’s duality. The underside of the rear bumper has silver accents. In addition, the new edition will receive special 21-inch rims. The Convertible can also be recognized by a dark red hood.

Then the engines. Nothing changes there. The Lexus LC Hokkaido Edition comes with a 3.5-liter V6 Multi-Stage Hybrid or a pounding 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine. The same power source as in the original LC500. It delivers a volcanic eruption with its 477 hp of power and a maximum torque of 540 Nm. With those numbers you tap a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour and you shoot from 0 to 100 in 4.4 seconds.

Lexus makes a total of 80 copies of the Hokkaido Edition for the European market: 40 Coupés and 40 Convertibles. The Coupé is available as LC500h and LC500, the Convertible is only available as LC500. Lexus will announce the prices at the beginning of April. Incidentally, Lexus is building more copies of this limited edition than the total number of LCs that the brand has delivered in the Netherlands since its introduction in 2017. That’s because there are only 61.

The Lexus LC Hokkaido Edition can be ordered in the Netherlands (and most other European countries) from April this year. But if you ask Mr. Louwman if he would like to keep one aside for you, he will certainly do so. Come into the beautiful world of Lexus.

Porsche unveils the Macan T: between entry-level and S

Porsche has now unveiled its latest model: the Macan T, a model between entry-level Macan and Macan S, giving those interested a slightly more accessible option for next year. Now, the German carmaker’s first Touring SUV is here.

Porsche aficionados know what the T badge stands for. Short for ‘Touring’ (not the Italian coachbuilder), the Macan T will be the German carmaker’s first model outside of the 718 and 911 as well as the first four-door to receive the ‘T’ badging, demarcating its entry-level nature.

Traditionally, Touring models fill a gap between base and midrange trims in Porsche’s lineup, offering a bit more excitement without going to extremes. That’s exactly the case here, as the Macan T sits squarely between the standard model and the Macan S.

Despite its category, the Macan T will still offer drivers plenty when it comes to power and handling. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pushes out 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while a Porsche Active Suspension Management system comes standard with the option to upgrade to adaptive air suspension and anti-roll bars.

You’ll also get the Porsche Traction Management system that pushes power bias to the rear axle, while the optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus package elevates the car’s handling even more. Porsche says the Macan T can reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the base model. Top speed is still 144 mph.

Performance aside, it also looks as good as it drives. The Macan T comes with some visual enhancements both outside and within. The Macan T takes on an Agate Gray Metallic trim by the front bumper, side mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler and rear logo.

Rear logos are also gray, and for some added darkness, while the Sport tailpipes take on a gloss black finishing along with its window surrounds. The 20-inch model-specific wheels come in a sleek Dark Titanium to complement the car’s sporty looks too.

As for its interior, you’ll find eight-way power and heated sport seats wrapped in Sport-Tex Stripe patterning paired with silver stitching. Driver and passengers will also find a heated GT Sport steering wheel, a Sport Chrono stopwatch in the dash, and black aluminum door sills with ‘Macan T’ embossing.

You can order your Macan T now. Unfortunately, there’s currently no availability and pricing information yet for the Porsche Macan T, so those interested should stay tuned for more updates to come. Come into the beautiful world of Porsche.

New Range Rover gets two PHEVs: the P440e and P510e

At the presentation of the new Range Rover, two plug-in hybrid variants were promised, in 2024 Land Rover will further complement the range with a fully electric variant of the luxury SUV. In the meantime, the British manufacturer has provided some additional technical information about the PHEV models: the P440e and the P510e.

Both the Range Rover P440e and the P510e rely on a pressure-fed six-in-line, but with the first plug-in version, the 3-liter block is less powerful for the day. This petrol engine is coupled to a 145 hp electric motor and a 38 kWh battery pack (of which 31 kWh of useful capacity).

That would translate into an electric range of 113 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 18 grams, which Land Rover calls the ‘Extended Range PHEV’. In practice, that would equate to 88 km of range. A lot for a PHEV, but quite little for such a large battery.

The new Range Rover is going to come in a new Extended-Range Plug-In Hybrid that will make things a bit more efficient for Land Rover’s flagship SUV.

Fast charging at 50 kW means that you need less than an hour to charge the batteries from 0 to 80% of their capabilities. The Range Rover P440e develops a system output of 440 hp and a combined maximum torque of 620 Nm, the P510e sets 510 hp and 700 Nm. This allows the most powerful of the two to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

And for those waiting for a fully-electric Range Rover, the company still plans to deliver an EV model in 2024. Come into the beautiful world of Range Rover.

Nick Boulle to Contend in Prestigious 60th Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona with Hardpoint

No. 99 Porsche 911 GT3 R

Nick Boulle of de Boulle, an independent jewelry salon in Dallas and Houston, will compete in the historic 60th Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona January 29-30. Boulle joins Hardpoint with a new driver line up including team principal, Rob Ferriol, alongside co-drivers Katherine Legge and Stefan Wilson in the No. 99 GridRival/GNARLY Jerky/de Boulle Diamond and Jewelry Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Since its inaugural running in 1966, the Rolex 24 has taken place on the Daytona International Speedway’s 3.56-mile combined road course, which consists of the tri-oval as well as the infield road course. As the jewel in the crown of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the historic race marks the start of the 2022 season, which features competition in five classes: the headlining Daytona Prototype International (DPi), Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP2), and the new GTD PRO class. This year, a full entry list of 60 cars, including 25 entries coming from the prototype ranks and 35 from the GT paddock will compete.

I’m really looking forward to racing in this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona. I’ve been fortunate to run at Daytona several times now and I think it’s one of the most challenging races mentally. There are more difficult tracks out there, but at Daytona, there are so few places to rest as a driver.

Nick Boulle

Boulle brings years of experience on the world’s greatest endurance racecourses including Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps and Daytona. This will be the sixth time Boulle has competed in this race. His greatest notoriety may be when he became the first certified Rolex retailer to win the Rolex 24 At Daytona in the LMPC class with Performance Tech Motorsports in 2017. In addition, Boulle has previously secured several podium placements. This is the second time Boulle has raced with Wilson and the first with Ferriol and Legge. The team will compete in the GT Daytona (GTD) class.

Nick Boulle

“We have a strong team and a superior car,” said Boulle. “I’ve been racing the Porsche 911 GT3 R for years, and it is meant to rise to all challenges on the track”.

“Nick and I are cut from the same cloth,” said Ferriol. “Focus, determination, and perseverance will help us in fighting for that podium finish”.

The Rolex 24 At Daytona will take the green flag on Saturday, January 29 at 1:40 pm EST. The race will be broadcast on a mixture of NBC broadcast and streaming properties.

A week before the main event, a 100-minute qualifying race known as the Motul Pole Award 100 will set the grid for the main 24-hour race that starts on January 29th. The annual Roar Before the 24 takes place January 21-23.
