In an ongoing continuation of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts commitment to thoughtful and strategic global growth, the brand is pleased to announce that it has been selected to manage the legendary Hotel Bauer in Venice, Italy. Owned by real estate developer Sigma Prime Selection, the hotel is situated in the city’s historic San Marco district, between the Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco, just a short distance from famous sites such as the Rialto Bridge. The addition of this property to Rosewood’s esteemed collection of luxury hotels and resorts will mark a notable extension of the existing European portfolio.
Originally built in 1880, Hotel Bauer is set to undergo a multi-year renovation in November 2022, at which time the hotel will close as it prepares to reopen as Rosewood Hotel Bauer in 2025. Led by well-known Venice based architect, Alberto Torsello, and renowned interior design group, BAR Studio, the restoration of the existing building will be meticulously cared for, with much of the hotel’s historic framework set to be repaired and integrated into the new design including the original façade, grand winding staircase and many interior elements that are a part of the property’s rich past. Throughout the restoration there will be an emphasis on sustainability, which will play a highly significant role in the plans for the hotel as the property aims to obtain three sustainability certificates: the Green Pass, Casa Klima and Leed Gold.
We are thrilled to be growing Rosewood’s presence in Europe with this pivotal addition in such a magnificent and beloved city like Venice. Across our portfolio we have been honored with opportunities to restore and reimagine many historic spaces across the globe, and we are incredibly thankful that Rosewood has been to be chosen to help breathe new life into Hotel Bauer.
Radha Arora, President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and Co-Chief Development Officer
Rosewood Hotel Bauer will be comprised of just over 110 rooms, with over half of the accommodations being suites, including several signature suites and a presidential suite. The property’s world-class food and beverage offerings will include a casual restaurant and wine bar on the ground floor and a refined Venetian restaurant and rooftop bar with a traditional Venetian Altana.
The property will also be home to a spectacular Italian rooftop garden with breathtaking views of the city, a luxurious wellness facility, and an outdoor pool with a bar located on the eighth floor. A luxury retail space spanning around over 32,200 sq. ft. will be integrated in the property experience and located at the rear of the building directly on the lively Campo San Moisé square, close to Piazza San Marco.
Rosewood is considered one of the world’s most reputable hotel operators and the new Rosewood Hotel Bauer, directly on the Grand Canal, represents an extraordinary project that is to be completed over the coming three years. This modern ultra-luxury hotel – in combination with first-class restaurants and an impressive rooftop garden – is set to become Venice’s new center of attraction.
Heinz Peter Hager, President of Signa Italia
Rosewood Hotel Bauer adds to the impressive collection of Rosewood properties currently in the development pipeline and is the third new addition announced this year alone, joining The Raleigh Miami Beach and Rosewood Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the hotel joins the brand’s growing Italian portfolio, including Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany and the upcoming Rosewood Rome, set to open in 2024.
It further marks the seventh property within Rosewood’s iconic European collection which includes Rosewood London, Paris’ Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, the recently opened Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid, Spain and the upcoming Rosewood Vienna, opening in Summer 2022.

World-famous for its rosé wines, the Côtes-de-Provence appellation alone spans six vast territories, running from East to West, each with its own unique soil type, geography, and climate. Located in the Haut-Pays (Highland) area, Château de Berne is characterized by limestone hills and shallow valleys. This little known, secret backcountry of Provence yields structured reds and fruity, delicate whites and rosés. The estate combines the best of two worlds in terms of geology and altitude. The heart of Berne’s vineyard, where 80% of its vines are rooted, is located on a chalky plateau, at an altitude of 980 ft. Cool nights, combined with a broad daytime temperature range, allow the grapes to mature at a slower pace, thus enhancing the wine’s freshness and delicate aromas.
Ultimate Provence’s sleek modern design features a chic boutique hotel nestled in an oasis of fresh green surroundings, and the estate makes a lasting impression. Tucked away in the hills behind Saint-Tropez, it offers guests an unexpected taste of Provence, in a remarkable atmosphere that awakens the senses and jostles the codes of this terroir’s ancestral traditions. Ultimate Provence wines offer an explosion of delightful aromas and bountiful pleasures for the palate.
Chef Romain Franceschi’s colorfully creative and mouthwatering gourmet cuisine, a true sensorial experience in perfect harmony with the estate’s wines. This is a place of epicurean and aesthetic delights, conveying the feeling of a dream-come-true getaway experience. Be it waking up in a stylish and cozy room with breathtaking views of the Notre-Dame-des-Anges Mountain range, learning about the art of wine-tasting with an expert sommelier, or relaxing by the luxurious pool, UP offers a veritable oasis of charm for those seeking to chill out and enjoy life. UP received a 94-point score from Tasting Panel.
For those who can’t travel to France, we welcome wine lovers to experience the wines firsthand in the United States. Château de Berne Romance Rosé retails for $15.99, Chateau de Berne Inspiration Rosé $21.99 and Ultimate Provence Rosé $23.99; available where wine is sold and as trio from wine.com. The Romance bottle features a fun special effect inside the bottle, as a bubble motif appears when the wine is poured, Inspiration is an exclusive square bottle that is a tribute to the Roman architecture and a nod to the estate’s long history of winemaking dating back to Roman times. With the new 2021 vintage, all 3 wines have had scores greater than 90 points from Somm Journal. In addition, Inspiration has received a 92-point score from Wine Enthusiast and was named into the exclusive Wine Enthusiast Top 100 wines of the year.

On the 26th, Forbes Travel Guide announced the result of its 2022 Star Awards with Lotte New York Palace and Lotte Hotel St. Petersburg as Five-Star hotels. Hereby, Lotte Hotels & Resorts became to have the largest number of Forbes Travel Guide rated hotels among Korean hotel brands.
Established in 1958, Forbes Travel Guide is the only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas. Anonymous professional inspectors evaluate based on up to 900 objective standards, with an emphasis on exceptional service, to help discerning travelers select the world’s best luxury experiences. Hotels are rated as Five-Star, Four-Star, and Recommended.
The hotels’ historic facilities from the 19th Century and Korean hospitality services were highly evaluated for this year. First, built in 1882, Lotte New York Palace houses The Palace (The Villard Houses) and The Towers. The 55-story hotel feature total 909 guest rooms and 23 banquet halls, boasting incomparable size even in NYC.
Especially the triplex penthouses are iconic to the hotel. Inspired by the finest Champagne, Dom Pérignon, its Champagne Suite welcomes guests with a Nouveau Nero marble floor leading to a double-story Grand Parlour surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The master and queen suites take design inspiration from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with deep rose toned leather. A shimmering crystal pendant chandelier designed to invoke the effervescent champagne bubble cates the eyes and the Champagne cave, the only one of its kind in NYC, provides a rustic experience.
Another iconic suite is the Jewel Suite, designed in collaboration with acclaimed jewelry designer Martin Katz. The suite opens with a two-story cascading crystal chandelier and five sculptural crystal jewel boxes, personally curated by Martin Katz. The suite gleams from the reflection, as if one is inside the jewel box. The master and double bedrooms reflect the jeweled theme in opulent, upscale furnishings. The hotel is deeply ingrained with artistic features, not to mention the sculptures and paintings of the gold room and the drawing room. Furthermore, its private membership bar ‘Rarities’, America’s first and the only location for the British luxury ‘ILA spa’ and more continue to inherit the heritage.
Lotte New York Palace was even more upgraded since 2015 after the acquisition by Lotte Hotel by successfully transferring the essence of Korean hospitality service. All staff above the director level from the previous New York Palace hotel were invited to Korea and were given service training on a regular basis. Moreover, by hosting significant global events such as the UN General Assembly and national summits, and by being known as the hotel that the U.S. presidents stay, Lotte New York Palace continues to enhance the brand power of Lotte.
Being its 3rd consecutive year as Five-Star hotel, Lotte Hotel St. Petersburg was originally built as a mansion in 1851. With over 170 years history, the hotel presents 12 types of rooms including the deluxe room with story height of 3.5 metre and the heavenly room equipped with mansard roof for sky view. Modern Japanese restaurant, rooftop bar overlooking Saint Isaac’s Cathedral – one of the most beloved tourist spots in the world, and Bali-style relaxation spa are also offered. Moreover, it is considered that Korean hospitality service has contributed in enhancing service quality in the city.
Holland America Line will be the first cruise line to return to Canadian cruising following a more than two year industrywide pause due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Koningsdam will call at Victoria, British Columbia, Saturday, April 9, restarting the cruise industry in Canada. The following day the ship will end its current seven-day cruise at Port of Vancouver, its homeport for the summer Alaska season.
We are thrilled to be the first cruise line back into Canada after such a long absence, and we look forward to celebrating a great moment for everyone who loves to travel and for those in Canada and Alaska whose livelihoods depend on tourism. Holland America Line has a robust schedule of cruises that explore Canadian ports on both coasts with Alaska, Hawaii, transatlantic and Canada and New England itineraries.
Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line
Koningsdam’s call at Victoria marks 905 days since a cruise ship has visited the port, and it also will be a maiden call for the ship. To mark the milestones, Antorcha and local government officials will be on hand in both Victoria and Vancouver to celebrate the return to Canadian cruising and address the importance Canada and Alaska to Holland America Line.
In 2022, six Holland America Line ships will call at Victoria and Vancouver for the Alaska cruise season. In total, the six ships will make 45 calls at Victoria and bring nearly 75,000 guests to the port, and 76 cruises begin or end at Vancouver, welcoming approximately 140,000 guests.

Viking® is celebrating new milestones in the launch of its expedition voyages, as the new purpose-built Viking Octantis® continues its first Antarctic season. Recently, Viking guests explored at both ends of the earth, when the Viking Octantis crossed the Antarctic Circle at 66°33′ S, marking the southernmost journey in the company’s 25-year history; just a few hours later, the Viking Venus® crossed the Arctic Circle at 66°33′ N under the spectacular northern lights.
The Viking Octantis and her sister ship, the Viking Polaris, have been designed for discovery—to enable our guests to explore the world’s most pristine destinations in comfort and in the most responsible way possible. With our first Antarctic season underway, we are very pleased with the enthusiastic initial response from our guests, as well as from esteemed design experts.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking
Today, Viking has released new architectural photos that detail the award-winning interior design of Viking Octantis—as well as a new 360-degree Ship Tour that provides a deck-by-deck virtual onboard experience. Additionally, Viking has also published a new video showcasing testimonials from guests who have recently experienced Viking’s Antarctic Explorer expedition and praised it as one of their best-ever travel experiences.
Viking’s new expedition ships were designed by the same team behind the award-winning Viking Longships® and ocean ships, including Richard Riviere, Founding Principal of internationally acclaimed interior design firm Rottet Studio of Los Angeles. SMC Design of London contributed with their expertise in the maritime sector. Together, the two firms were awarded ‘Design Studio Team of the Year‘ in the 2021 Cruise Ship Interior Awards for their work on Viking’s expedition ships.
We hope our guests will feel at home on board these elegant vessels, with spaces that are familiar from our ocean ships – such as the Explorers’ Lounge and Mamsen’s – as well as innovative new spaces like The Aula and The Hangar that are first of their kind in the travel industry. As always, our Norwegian heritage and thoughtful attention to detail are infused throughout. With sheltered outdoor observation areas from bow to stern, and a state-of-the-art stabilizing system that makes for very smooth sailing, our new expedition ships optimize exploring the remotest parts of the world in comfort, the Viking way.
Karine Hagen, Executive Vice President of Viking
The new Polar Class Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris host 378 guests in 189 staterooms. The vessels are purpose-built for expeditions, at an ideal size for safety and comfort in remote destinations. With more indoor and outdoor viewing areas than other expedition vessels, guests are as close as possible to the most magnificent scenery on earth. The architectural photos released today showcase many of the onboard public spaces, such as:
The Aula, a stunning panoramic auditorium inspired by the University of Oslo’s famed ceremonial hall, the former venue for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Used for lectures, daily briefings, documentaries and films, this spectacular venue features a 4k laser-projected screen that retracts to expose floor-to-ceiling windows and 270° views.
The Finse Terrace, an outdoor lounge area just above sea level with recessed, heated seating and lava rock ‘firepits’, the Finse Terrace was designed to allow guests the comforts of the ship al fresco while enjoying the dramatic scenery. Named after the Finse Plateau in Norway, where some of the greatest polar explorers, including Nansen and Amundsen, did their expedition training in preparation for their North and South Pole expeditions.
The Bow & The Shelter
The Bow, is an important forward-viewing platform. But in the case of inclement weather, The Shelter is a comfortable, partially enclosed space for guests to warm up with a hot drink before going back out into the elements.
Familiar to guests who have sailed on Viking’s ocean voyages, The Explorer’s Lounge on board the Viking Octantis, pictured here, is located high on the ship with floor-to-ceiling windows, providing guests an ideal space to take in the magnificent scenery, share discoveries with fellow travelers or to enjoy a drink

Familiar to guests who have sailed on Viking’s ocean voyages, The Restaurant, pictured above, is one of the dining options on board the Viking Octantis and offers fine dining featuring regional cuisine and always-available classics.
The casual World Café offers an open kitchen, bakery, grill and premium seafood and sushi choices, as well as a wide range of international flavors; Mamsen’s, named for the Hagen family matriarch, serves Scandinavian-inspired fare;

Expedition Central:The hub for the expedition team to consult with guests on their expedition activities and share knowledge about the destinations on a one-on-one basis, with the aid of 3D printed maps, digital screens, and a state-of-the-art spatial data visualization chart table.
A first for polar expedition vessels, all staterooms on board Viking’s expedition ships feature a Nordic Balcony, a sunroom that converts into an al fresco viewing platform with an observation shelf at elbow level to stabilize binoculars or a camera. Guests can choose from six stateroom categories that range from 222 sq. ft. to 1,223 sq. ft. – all with a Nordic Balcony, as well as a king-size bed and large bathroom with spacious glass-enclosed shower, heated bathroom floor and anti-fog mirror. Every stateroom is also equipped with a unique floor-to-ceiling drying closet that circulates warm air to dry and store clothing and expedition gear.

Expedition Ship Suites: Nordic Junior Suites (322 sq. ft.) and Explorer Suites (580 sq. ft.) on ‘Viking Octantis’ and ‘Viking Polaris’ are similar to those on Viking’s fleet of ocean ships, with wood detailing and amenities that include additional storage and seating, an expanded bathroom with extended shower and double sinks, welcome champagne, a fully-stocked mini-bar replenished daily, complimentary laundry, priority restaurant reservations and more.
Explorer Suites feature two separate rooms, a Nordic Balcony and a full outdoor veranda. Viking was founded in 1997 and provides destination-focused journeys on rivers, oceans and lakes around the world. Following several days of activities to prepare future astronauts, the space flights take off from Spaceport America in New Mexico. The entire journey is 90-minutes, including a signature air launch and Mach-3 boost to space. Astronauts will have the opportunity to experience several minutes of out-of-seat weightlessness as the spaceship flips, all the while enjoying once-in-a-lifetime views of planet Earth.

Michael Colglazier, CEO Virgin Galactic
Space tourists will fly aboard the company’s rocket-powered vehicle, known as SpaceShipTwo Unity. The craft is designed to take off on a conventional runway while attached to the underbelly of a carrier ship. The vehicles fly to 50,000 feet, where Unity is released and its engine ignites to power it to the edge of space.
Virgin Galactic’s joyrides take off from Spaceport America in New Mexico. Reservations include several days of training and spaceflight preparedness programs, according to the company.
Spaceflight reservations additionally provide access to Virgin Galactic’s Future Astronaut membership community, which hosts events, trips and space-readiness programs for travelers awaiting their flights.

Ennismore is partnering with the upscale head-to-toe skincare brand to introduce a new collection that provides a more environmentally sound solution to bathroom amenities and is collaborating with Clean the World on a robust recycling strategy for large bottles replacing single-use.
Ennismore, developer of unique hospitality properties and experiences around the world, announced today a global partnership with Malin+Goetz across its brands Delano, Hyde, Mondrian, Morgans Originals and SLS. The collaboration is the first time that the New York based skincare and fragrance company has partnered with a hospitality collective on a unique packaging and fragrance assortment. Thanks to La Bottega, leader in the curation of luxury bath and body products for hospitality, this partnership was able to come to fruition with a collection that will also bring a fresh new environmentally sustainable perspective and offering to guests.
Andrew Goetz, the brand’s founder says, “We founded Malin+Goetz on the principles of ‘less is best.’ Less packaging, no unnecessary ingredients, and less steps all equal better health. Best for your skincare, and best for the environment. We are proud to partner with Ennismore in bringing our curated amenity collection to their amazing properties. A great format innovation with wonderful products that’s great for everyone… and the planet”.
The new collection ‘Malin+Goetz for Ciel Spa’ was inspired by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz’s widely acclaimed bergamot fragrance, across their sought-after body wash, vitamin B5 and gentle hydrating formulas – a combination completely unique to Delano, Hyde, Mondrian, Morgans Originals and SLS.
The 400ml large format dispensers will be available in all guest bathrooms, replacing single use 50ml bath amenities, which often required replenishment multiple times throughout each guest’s stay. For a safer and more hygienic travel experience, bottles will not be refillable to ensure the quality and efficacy of the product.
Additionally, the collection was developed in collaboration with Clean the World to ensure all products are being recycled correctly, including soap which is recycled into new bars for those in need. The new program launches in February 2022, and the full collection will be available in guest bathrooms by March 2022. An on-property and online retail program is in development and set to launch by the end of the year.
To mark its 250th anniversary, Veuve Clicquot has conceived an exceptional journey with Belmond on board its mythic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Starting June 5, guests will spend two days discovering the history and savoir-faire of the Champagne Maison, traveling from Reims to Venice, retracing the route of the first bottles shipped abroad by the Maison in 1772.
Entitled ‘Voyage Solaire’, a name inspired by the signature sunburst yellow color of Veuve Clicquot labels since 1877, the celebratory journey follows the sun from dawn to sunset. It begins at sunrise in Reims, in the heart of Champagne, with a visit to the chalk cellars and a tasting of the Maison’s most prestigious cuvées, accompanied by Cellar Master Didier Mariotti.
The adventure and refinement then continue on board the legendary train in a timeless atmosphere. Immersed in an authentic décor elevated by art deco details, travelers will revel in a champagne pairing dinner.
The next morning they can watch the sun rise over the Alps from their cabins or the platform at Innsbruck station. The magical adventure culminates with a sunset dinner at Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice, on Giudecca island.
Guests who book a Cabin Suite or Grand Suite add to the experience with a celebratory breakfast in the dining car. And Grand Suite guests are invited to an exclusive pre-journey night at Veuve Clicquot’s private Hôtel du Marc in Reims.
Founded in 1772, Maison Veuve Clicquot remains faithful to its emblematic motto – ‘Only one quality, the finest’ – encapsulating two and a half centuries of savoir-faire at the heart of an exceptional heritage and the visionary spirit of Madame Clicquot, one of the first businesswomen of modern times.
Belmond has cultivated a unique art of refined travel since its acquisition of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice in 1976. From elegant train journeys to river cruises, safari lodges and hotels, each property in the Belmond collection has an incredible story to tell, bringing guests unforgettable experiences and an incomparable sense of service.
