Vacheron Constantin Introduces the Traditionnelle Complete Calendar in White Gold

Founded in 1755, Vacheron Constantin is the world’s oldest watch Manufacture in continuous production for over 265 years, faithfully perpetuating a proud heritage of watchmaking excellence and stylistic sophistication through generations of master craftsmen.

At the pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie and understated elegance, the Maison creates timepieces with unique technical and aesthetic signatures, and an extremely high level of finishing touches. Vacheron Constantin brings to life unparalleled heritage and a spirit of innovation through its collections: Patrimony, Traditionnelle, Métiers d’Art, Overseas, Fiftysix, Historiques and Égérie.

Today, Vacheron Constantin presents a new iteration of the Traditionnelle Complete Calendar. The Swiss watchmaker has applied a crisp contemporary slate grey look to a classic calendar watch for its new Traditionnelle Complete Calendar. The 41mm watch bears all of the hallmarks of golden age, mid-century watch design from its dauphin hands and railway minute track, but given over to more modern proportions and a sober color palatte.

Day and Month windows are positioned on opposite sides of the dial with a date scale running around its perimeter, indicated using a crescent-tipped central pointer, while a moonphase sits at the six o’clock position. The complete calendar arrangement expands on the day/date/month triple calendar combination of complications with the addition of a moonphase that will only require one correction every 122 years.

The Traditionnelle Complete Calendar watch is powered by the in-house calibre 2460 QCL/1. With its 308 components is an evolved version of Calibre 2450, the first automatic movement entirely designed and developed by Vacheron Constantin. Equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism, it beats at a rate of 28,800 vph and has a 40-hour power reserve. Featuring a 22K gold openworked oscillating weight with a design inspired by the Maison’s Maltese cross emblem, the movement visible from the back bears all the finishing touches one would expect from an Haute Horlogerie calibre, such as its circular-grained baseplate and chamfered bridges adorned with a ‘Côtes de Genève’ motif.

Water-resistant to 30 meters, the new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Complete Calendar White Gold (ref. 4010T/000G-B740) is worn on a black Mississippiensis alligator leather strap secured by an 18K white gold pin buckle. It is presented as part of the permanent collection and will be priced at € 40,800.

Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix: the collection celebrates its third anniversary

In 2018, Vacheron Constantin embarked on a partnership with London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios bringing together their shared values of Excellence and Craftmanship.

The iconic Studio Two was chosen as the setting in which to unveil the Fiftysix collection, which has since been interpreted in several variations inspired by the Maison’s first water-resistant self-winding watch created in 1956. Its distinctive features: lugs shaped like a section of Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese cross symbol; a box-type sapphire crystal; a classic case measuring 40 mm in diameter; and a sophisticated sector-type dial.

Founded in 1755, Vacheron Constantin is the world’s oldest watch Manufacture in continuous production for over 260 years, faithfully perpetuating a proud heritage of watchmaking excellence and stylistic sophistication through generations of master craftsmen. At the pinnacle of high horology and understated elegance, the Maison creates timepieces with unique technical and aesthetic signatures and an extremely high level of finishing touches.

Vacheron Constantin is preparing, in force, for the SIHH 2019: fifteen complications and a spectacular look – the Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix.

Vacheron Constantin brings to life unparalleled heritage and a spirit of innovation through its key collections: Patrimony, Traditionnelle, Métiers d’Art, Overseas, Fiftysix and Historiques. It also offers its discerning clientele of connoisseurs the rare opportunity to acquire unique and bespoke timepieces by means of its ‘Les Cabinotiers’ department.

The iconic Swiss watchmaker continues to take on these highly technical and creative challenges within its Les Cabinotiers department, which gives rise to one-of-a-kind models intended for clients and collectors, along with specifically commissioned bespoke timepieces.

Engineers, designers, watchmakers and craftsmen unite their imagination, expertise and passion in bringing this extremely refined watchmaking excellence to life, as is vividly testified by the new one-of-a-kind Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix.

Since the 18th century, the iconic Swiss watchmaker has perpetuated the tradition of the ‘Les Cabinotiers’, the name given to the prestigious and cultivated watchmakers who worked in workshops bathed in light located on the top floors of Geneva’s buildings. The expertise of these accomplished masters was backed by vast scientific knowledge, fired by a curiosity for new ideas and nurtured by the philosophy of the Enlightenment. Their deft hands craft exceptional timepieces of rare technical and aesthetic complexity, inspired by astronomy, science and the arts.

Vacheron Constantin continues to take on these highly technical and creative challenges within its Les Cabinotiers department, which gives rise to one-of-a-kind models intended for clients and collectors, along with specifically commissioned bespoke timepieces. Engineers, designers, watchmakers and craftsmen unite their imagination, expertise and passion in bringing this extremely refined watchmaking excellence to life, as is vividly testified by the new one-of-akind Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix.

According to the legend of the Phoenix, which arose in the East before reaching Asia, this fabled bird braved the cycle of life and death by setting itself on fire and rising from its ashes every 500 years. A symbol of immortality, it inspired the creators of the Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix watch, which also defies time with its 15 complications.

vacheron-constantin-les-cabinotiers-grand-complication-phoenix-02

Visible on both sides of the watch, an array of indications – including a perpetual calendar, the equation of time, sunrise and sunset, sky chart, seasons, signs of the zodiac, age and phase of the moon, solstices, sidereal hours and minutes, power – endow it with nobility and prestige. A minute repeater and a tourbillon complete this exceptional list of functions. The watchmakers of the Les Cabinotiers department have succeeded in accommodating all these functions within the limited space of the case by maximum miniaturisation of all components while preserving their reliability.

The numerals and hands stand out clearly against the slate-grey colour of the two dials on either side of the watch, beautifully offsetting the pink gold case. The optimal legibility of this complex model is also ensured by the layout of the additional counters and the various time indications.

vacheron-constantin-les-cabinotiers-grand-complication-phoenix-03

The Vacheron Constantin’s watchmakers have chosen the famous Calibre 2755 to drive the many functions of this extremely complicated watch. This manual-winding movement endowed with a 58-hour power reserve is dedicated to the particularly sophisticated models of the Manufacture – and notably those in the exceptional Grand Complication category to which this one-of-a-kind model belongs.

Epitomising a subtle balance between innovation and the transmission of ancestral skills, this exceptional model also pays tribute to a pair of engraving art techniques that few artisans still master: pounced ornament – or bas-relief – for the case-band; and fine line engraving for the bezel and case-back. At least a decade’s experience is required to perfect the ability to sculpt gold to create such a three-dimensional effect, in a process involving 300 hours of patient craftsmanship.

vacheron-constantin-les-cabinotiers-grand-complication-phoenix-04..jpg

Given the extreme care lavished on details that constitutes a Vacheron Constantin signature, the wings of this legendary bird appear to be literally ready to unfurl on the case-band, while the movement of its slim neck extends elegantly and gracefully to the very tip of its beak.
